Licence terms

Buying Celestium gives you a right to use the software, not ownership of it.

This text is a draft and is still under legal review. No rights may be derived from it.

What your licence allows

You may install and use Celestium on the machines you use yourself, professionally and privately. Your licence code activates Celestium on up to three devices. The licence is personal and issued in your name. In the current version the licence code is not yet checked online; that will follow in a later version.

You may freely use the charts, drawings and reports you produce with Celestium, including in your professional practice and in publications.

What is not allowed

Your copy of Celestium is not for sharing, publishing or reselling.

Decompiling, modifying or distributing the software is not permitted, except to the extent that mandatory law allows it.

One-off purchase and updates

Celestium is a one-off purchase; there is no subscription. Updates covering fixes, improvements and security patches for the features you bought are included.

New functionality is not part of the licence. If a major new version with new capabilities appears in future, that is a separate purchase.

Upgrading to Celestium Pro

Owners of Celestium can upgrade to Celestium Pro by paying the difference. Your existing data is preserved.

Third-party components

Celestium uses the Swiss Ephemeris for astronomical calculation. The place database is assembled from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), OpenStreetMap through the Overpass API (ODbL), PDOK and CBS Locatieserver, data.gouv.fr under Licence Ouverte 2.0, and a range of open data portals run by Belgian, French, German, British, Austrian and Swiss cities and authorities. The full attribution is carried in the database itself, in the attribution field of the meta table. The licence terms of the respective rights holders apply to those components.

The astrological symbols on this website are set in a subset of DejaVu Sans, © 2003 Bitstream, Inc. and © 2006 Tavmjong Bah, distributed under the DejaVu Fonts License (/fonts/LICENSE-DejaVu.txt).

The other typefaces are Inter (© 2016 The Inter Project Authors), Bodoni Moda (© 2020 The Bodoni Moda Project Authors) and IBM Plex Mono (© 2017 IBM Corp.), all distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (/fonts/OFL.txt).
