Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions.
Do I need an internet connection to use Celestium?
No. Most features work entirely locally on your computer. Only the map material for Astrocartography and Local Space needs an internet connection. The trial also checks the date online from time to time.
What happens after the fourteen-day trial?
After fourteen days the trial stops working. Your data and settings are kept. If you want to keep using Celestium, you can buy a licence afterwards.
Can I use Celestium on more than one machine?
Yes. A personal licence may be used on up to three of your own devices, for example a desktop and a laptop. If you reach the limit and want to install Celestium on another device, you can remove an existing activation first.
A licence is personal and may not be shared by several people.
Can I teach with Celestium?
Yes. You may use Celestium in lessons, demonstrations and presentations. The licence stays personal: everyone using Celestium independently needs a licence of their own.
Teaching a larger group and need several licences? Get in touch with us.
Can I bring my charts over from another program?
Yes. Celestium Exchange transfers charts from several astrology programs and file formats to Celestium. For data from Astroscoop there is also Celestium Import.
The Discover Celestium page lists the supported formats and programs.
Where are my charts stored?
Celestium stores your charts locally on your own computer. You can make backups yourself and keep them somewhere else, for example on an external drive or in your own cloud storage.
I bought Celestium. How do I move over from the trial?
Install the full version over the trial. Your existing charts, folders and settings are preserved.
Can I upgrade from Celestium to Celestium Pro later?
Yes. You can upgrade to Celestium Pro at any time. You pay only the price difference, and your existing charts, folders and settings are preserved.
Which languages is Celestium available in?
Celestium is available in Dutch, English, German and French. You can switch language in the program at any time.
First aid with installation and activation
Still not working?
Windows warns that the publisher is unknown
Windows may show a warning on first installation because it does not recognise the publisher of Celestium yet. Choose More info and then Run anyway to continue.
macOS says Celestium is damaged or cannot be opened
macOS blocks Celestium on first launch because the app is not signed with Apple yet. At the message choose Cancel, not Move to Trash. Move Celestium to Applications, open Terminal and run this command:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Celestium.app
Then start Celestium again from Applications.
Why this step is needed
The path stays /Applications even where Finder shows the folder under a translated name. The System Settings route does not apply here: macOS offers that for a signed program from an unidentified developer, not for the message that a program is damaged.
Windows says Celestium is still in use
Close Celestium completely and try again. If the message keeps appearing, open Task Manager and check whether Celestium is still running there. End the process and try again.
The full version still starts as the trial
First check that you installed the full version and not the trial again. If needed, uninstall the trial, install the full version again and restart your computer.
If the problem persists, get in touch with us.
Celestium does not start after installing
Restart your computer and try opening Celestium again. If the problem persists, get in touch with us and mention which version of Windows or macOS you use and exactly what appears on screen.
I have lost my master password (Celestium Pro)
Get in touch with us. We will help you remove the master password and, if needed, the PIN of a folder as well. Your charts stay unchanged.

Question not here? Send us a message. Mention which operating system and which version of Celestium you use, and describe as precisely as you can what happens. A screenshot of the message and the log file debug.log help us help you sooner. That file is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Celestium on Windows and in ~/Library/Application Support/Celestium on macOS.
